The fifth edition of the Modern Nahu Melayu book uses a systemic-functional method which is indeed maximalist in explaining the use of language forms based on the Malay language system as well as the function of those forms in the form of Nahu such as phrases, clauses and sentences. At the same time, the approach in this book is eclectic, that is, it also applies relevant aspects from the structural flow, field of meaning, analysis of meaning components, sociolinguistics, discourse, and historical linguistics.
